Why you should go skiing in April

26/06/2019

Love skiing and love the sun? Ski in April.

If you’re looking to go skiing during school holidays, but for a little cheaper than February, April is the perfect time to book your skiing holiday. Enjoy the sunshine, and some more space on the slopes, all whilst saving a bit of cash.

Spring skiing means you can enjoy the views from chair lifts without bracing from the cold and piling on the layers. There is nothing better than sunbathing whilst enjoying the views of snow-capped mountains. Just make sure you stay UV protected whilst basking in the sun! Despite the sunshine, don’t let fear of bad snow conditions stop you from booking in April. Since the majority of skiing in the Three Valleys is done above 1800m, the snow conditions are typically very good no matter where you stay. In fact, the Three Valleys Society guarantees to have the largest number of open connected runs in Europe, and if another European resort has more connected runs open, they promise to refund any unused day on your ski pass. There’s no reason that you can’t enjoy both the slopes and the sunshine during April.

Families can take advantage of the Easter holidays, and come skiing at a quieter time for cheaper. Throughout February, European schools have holidays at different times, meaning the slopes become busier, and prices go up. April is much cheaper to go skiing, with flights, transfers and accommodation in much lower demand.

If you’re worrying less about the kids’ school holidays, and more about partying, then April is also a great time to ski. Longer, sunnier days means you can stay out at apres later! Cheaper prices also mean you have more money to spend on a refreshing pint after a hard day on the slopes. Not to mention the epic end of season parties happening. The most famous of all is the Three Valleys Charity Day, which happens every year at the start of April, attracting thousands from the french alps with plenty of live music and food, and all in the name of charity. If you’re looking for a real buzz around resort, then get stuck-in to the end of season parties in the April sunshine.
